The site was developed at the request of Jancis, one of the World's most recognized wine experts who has written numerous books, appeared on television and also writes for leading newspapers on the subject of wine.
Jancis wanted a web site that stood out from similar sites and believed that by creating a community where members could interact was fundamental to the on-going success of her business. Alcuda developed a system whereby people can easily interact and share their experiences of wine as well as being able to access a database of tasting notes.
